ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival Day

Stone Town, Zanzibar

• Arrive in Stone Town, the cultural heart of Zanzibar and a UNESCO World Heritage Site

• Meet the group, settle in and explore the winding streets, local markets and historic architecture

• Finish the day with drinks at a local bar and get to know your fellow travellers

Day 2: Stone Town & Nungwi

Stone Town to Nungwi

• Join a guided Stone Town walking tour, including the former slave market and Zanzibar’s Portuguese and Arab history

• Travel north to Nungwi Beach for free time to swim, relax and enjoy the white sand

• Finish the day with a beachfront dinner and sunset over the Indian Ocean

Day 3: Dolphins & Sea Turtles

Nungwi, Zanzibar

• Head out for a dolphin experience in the clear waters off Zanzibar

• Visit the Nungwi Turtle Sanctuary and learn about local sea turtle conservation

• Relax on Nungwi Beach before finishing with a beachfront dinner

Day 4: Jozani Forest & Paje

Jozani to Paje

• Explore Jozani National Park, home to Zanzibar’s endangered red colobus monkeys

• Travel to Paje Beach for an afternoon of swimming and relaxing

• Enjoy dinner at a beachfront restaurant overlooking the Indian Ocean

Day 5: Zanzibar Caves

Maalum Cave & Kuza Cave

• Swim in the clear natural spring inside Maalum Cave

• Visit Kuza Cave, with optional local cooking and drumming experiences

• Spend the afternoon relaxing on Paje Beach or booking a massage

Day 6: Paje Beach & The Rock Restaurant

Paje, Zanzibar

• Enjoy a free morning for the beach, kitesurfing, snorkelling or a massage

• Regroup for dinner at the famous Rock Restaurant Zanzibar

• Finish the trip with a night out at Paje’s local bars and beach clubs

Day 7: Departure Day

Paje, Zanzibar

• Enjoy one final breakfast or walk along Paje Beach

• Say goodbye to the group and the friends you’ve made along the way

Zanzibar Travel FAQs

Who is this Zanzibar group tour for?

This trip is designed for travellers in their 20s and 30s who want a mix of beaches, wildlife, culture and adventure. Most guests travel solo, although couples and small groups of friends are also welcome.

Do I need a visa for Zanzibar?

Zanzibar is part of Tanzania, so Tanzania’s visa rules apply. Depending on your passport, you may be able to apply for an eVisa before travelling or get a visa on arrival. Always check the latest official requirements for your nationality before booking flights.

Which airport should I fly into?

Fly into Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ) in Zanzibar. The airport is close to Stone Town, where the trip begins.

Are airport transfers included?

Yes. Arrival and departure airport transfers are included. An Indy Escapes representative will meet you at Zanzibar Airport on Day 1 and arrange your return transfer at the end of the trip.

Is Zanzibar safe?

Zanzibar is generally popular with international travellers, but normal travel precautions still apply. Stay aware of your surroundings, look after valuables and follow advice from your Indy Escapes guide and local team.

Can I join the Zanzibar tour solo?

Absolutely. Around 70% of our guests travel solo. The trip is designed to make meeting people easy, with shared activities, group meals and plenty of time to get to know everyone.

What extra costs should I budget for?

You’ll need spending money for meals that aren’t included, drinks, tips and optional activities. Extras may include scuba diving, dhow sailing, cooking classes and other local experiences.

How much do meals cost in Zanzibar?

Local meals can cost around $3 to $10 USD, while mid-range restaurants are often around $10 to $20 USD. Prices are usually higher at beachfront restaurants and tourist hotspots.

Can you cater for dietary requirements?

Yes. Tell us about allergies or dietary requirements when booking. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options can usually be arranged, although choices may vary between locations.

How do I book the Zanzibar group tour?

Send us a booking enquiry, pay your deposit and wait for your confirmation. Once confirmed, you’re officially joining us in Zanzibar.
