Day 1: WELCOME TO CAIRO

Your Egyptian adventure begins with your arrival in the bustling city of Cairo. As soon as you disembark from your flight, our representative will greet you warmly at the airport. They will assist you through passport control and take you to our hotel. Find out more about our arrival service here.

From the moment you step into this vibrant metropolis, you'll feel the allure of Egypt's ancient history and its dynamic present. After a smooth transfer, you’ll arrive at our luxurious haven strategically located near the world-renowned Pyramids of Giza. This hotel offers comfort and a unique vantage point to catch your first glimpse of these iconic monuments.

Once you’ve settled into your room, take some time to unwind and absorb the rich atmosphere of Cairo. Whether you choose to explore the hotel's lush gardens, relax by the pool, or simply enjoy the view of the pyramids from the hotel grounds, your first day sets the tone for an incredible journey ahead. As night falls, you will meet your Indy crew, and you can rest easy, knowing that your adventure is just beginning.

Day 2: EXPLORING CAIROS MARVELS

Your first full day in Egypt begins by exploring Cairo's most legendary landmarks, taking you deep into the heart of ancient history. You'll start at the Pyramids of Giza, where the sheer scale and grandeur of the Great Pyramid will leave you awestruck. These structures, built as tombs for the pharaohs, stand as enduring symbols of Egypt's glorious past. Nearby, the Sphinx, with its enigmatic expression, watches over the complex, a timeless guardian of these ancient wonders.

After soaking in the majesty of the pyramids, you'll visit the Valley Temple. Here, sacred rituals were performed to honour the dead, adding another layer of depth to your understanding of ancient Egyptian beliefs. Your journey continues to the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square, home to the world's most extensive collection of Pharaonic antiquities. As you wander through its vast halls, you'll encounter treasures that span thousands of years, including the legendary golden mask of King Tutankhamun. Each artefact tells a story, offering a glimpse into the lives of those who ruled Egypt millennia ago. After an enlightening day, you'll enjoy a delicious dinner before boarding your overnight train to Aswan, where the gentle rhythm of the rails will lull you to sleep.

Day 3: ASWAN'S TRANQUIL BEAUTY

Wake up to the tranquil beauty of Aswan, a city that has long been a crossroads of cultures and a gateway to Africa. Aswan's serene environment provides a stark contrast to the bustling streets of Cairo, offering a peaceful respite on the banks of the Nile.

After your arrival, your day begins with a visit to the impressive High Dam, a modern marvel that has harnessed the power of the Nile and played a crucial role in Egypt's development. This massive structure, which created the vast Lake Nasser, is a testament to Egypt's engineering prowess. Following this, you will explore the enchanting Philae Temple, a stunning sanctuary dedicated to the goddess Isis. Located on an island, the temple's serene surroundings and exquisite carvings make it one of Egypt's most beautiful sites. The temple, saved from submersion by an international effort, symbolises ancient reverence and modern cooperation. After this cultural immersion, you'll board your luxurious Nile cruise ship, where a sumptuous lunch awaits.

The afternoon brings a relaxing felucca ride. Drift along the Nile's calm waters and take in the picturesque scenery of Aswan, dotted with lush islands and traditional sailboats. As you return to the cruise ship for the evening, reflect on a day filled with ancient wonders and natural beauty.

Day 4: TEMPLES OF THE NILE

Today, your journey along the Nile continues as you sail towards the ancient temple complexes that line its banks, each offering a unique glimpse into Egypt's storied past. The morning is yours to relax on board the cruise ship, enjoying the tranquil views of the river and the surrounding landscapes. For those seeking more adventure, an optional excursion to Abu Simbel is available. This UNESCO World Heritage site is famous for its colossal statues of Ramses II, and the temples here are some of the most spectacular in Egypt.

If you choose to remain on board, you'll still be treated to breathtaking sights as the ship makes its way to Kom Ombo. Here, you'll disembark to explore the Temple of Kom Ombo, unique in its dual dedication to two gods: Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus, the falcon god. The symmetry of the temple reflects this dual worship, with mirror-image sanctuaries and chapels. The temple's location, perched dramatically on a bend in the Nile, adds to its mystique. As you explore, imagine the ancient rituals that once took place here and see the mummified crocodiles that were revered in Sobek's honour. After soaking in the atmosphere of Kom Ombo, you'll sail onward to Edfu, where you will spend the night. The journey between these ancient sites allows you to witness life along the Nile as it has been for centuries, with farmers tending their fields and children playing by the riverbanks.

Day 5: LUXOR'S TIMELESS TREASURES

The river brings you to Luxor, often referred to as the world’s greatest open-air museum, where the sheer concentration of historical sites is unmatched. The day begins with the ship gliding through the final stretch of the Nile, as you anticipate the wonders that Luxor holds. In the afternoon, disembark to visit the Luxor Temple, a site that has been a place of worship and pilgrimage for millennia. As you walk through its grand colonnades, adorned with intricate carvings, it’s easy to imagine the grand processions that once took place here.

The temple was dedicated to the rejuvenation of kingship, and its walls are covered with scenes of divine ceremonies and offerings. Luxor Temple was connected to the nearby Karnak Temple by the Avenue of Sphinxes, some of which are still visible today. This temple, built and expanded by several pharaohs, including Amenhotep III and Ramses II, is a testament to ancient Egypt's enduring power and spirituality. As the sun sets, casting a golden glow over the temple's ancient stones, you'll return to your cruise ship for one last night on the Nile, where you can gaze out at the city's lights shimmering on the water.

Day 6: VALLEY OF THE KINGS

Your final day in Luxor is dedicated to exploring the West Bank, where some of Egypt's most significant and evocative sites are located. Begin with a visit to the Valley of the Kings, the final resting place of Egypt's pharaohs. Here, you'll descend into the tombs, each adorned with elaborate wall paintings that have survived the millennia, telling the story of the pharaohs' journey to the afterlife.

The tomb of Tutankhamun, with its riches and mysteries, is a highlight of this necropolis. Next, visit the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, an architectural marvel built into the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari. This temple, with its grand terraces and colonnades, honours one of Egypt's most successful and enigmatic rulers. Hatshepsut's reign was marked by peace and prosperity, and her temple reflects her unique legacy. Finally, cross back to the East Bank to visit the Karnak Temple, the largest religious complex ever built. Its massive hypostyle hall, with 134 towering columns, is one of the most awe-inspiring sights in Egypt. Karnak was the centre of worship for over 2,000 years, and its scale and grandeur are a fitting end to your exploration of Luxor.

After a morning steeped in history, you'll be transferred by bus to the coastal city of Hurghada, where you'll check into our Hotel. Here, the turquoise waters of the Red Sea and the warm sands of the beach await, offering a perfect contrast to the deserts and monuments of Upper Egypt.

Day 7: THE RED SEA

Today is a day of leisure and relaxation, where you can enjoy the pristine beauty of the Red Sea coast. Hurghada is famous for its crystal-clear waters, vibrant coral reefs, and golden sands, making it the ideal spot to unwind after exploring Egypt's ancient wonders. Spend your day at the Bel Air Azur Hotel, enjoying the luxurious amenities, including a private beach, swimming pools, and spa services. For those looking to explore marine life, optional snorkelling or diving excursions are available, offering a chance to see the colourful fish and coral that make the Red Sea one of the world's top diving destinations. Whether you choose to bask in the sun, swim in the warm waters, or indulge in a massage, this is your time to recharge. Hurghada also offers vibrant nightlife and shopping opportunities, so you might want to venture into the town in the evening to experience its lively atmosphere. After a day of relaxation, return to your hotel for a peaceful night's sleep, ready to wrap up your Egyptian adventure.

Upon arrival, you'll be transferred to the Radisson Blu Hotel, conveniently located near the airport. Take advantage of the hotel's amenities, or if you're feeling adventurous, venture out to explore more of Cairo. You'll then be transferred to Cairo International Airport for your departure flight. As you prepare to leave, take a moment to reflect on the wonders you've seen—from the awe-inspiring pyramids of Giza to the tranquil temples of the Nile, from the vibrant streets of Cairo to the serene waters of the Red Sea.

Egypt has offered you a journey through time, revealing the mysteries of an ancient civilisation and the beauty of its landscapes. As you board your flight, you carry with you the stories of the pharaohs, the temples' splendour, and the Egyptian people's warmth.
