At Indy Escapes, we are committed to making a positive impact on the world. As avid travellers, we have seen firsthand the many challenges facing communities around the globe, from poverty and lack of education to environmental degradation and animal welfare. We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the contribution that a variety of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and non-profit organisations (NFPs) that help support vulnerable people, disadvantage communities and conservation projects.


These organisations share a common commitment to making a difference and by supporting these organisations, we are able to contribute to vital initiatives that range from wildlife conservation to education and poverty alleviation. We believe that it is our responsibility as travellers to give back to the places we visit, and we are proud to work with some of these organisations to help create a brighter future for everyone.

Ruben Centre is a non-profit organization located in the Mukuru Slums of Nairobi, Kenya. The centre was established in 1986 by the Christian Brothers with the aim of improving the lives of people living in the slums. The centre provides a range of services to the community, including education, healthcare, and development programs.


Ruben Centre's education program provides primary and secondary education to over 3,000 children in the slums. The centre's healthcare program includes a medical clinic, a laboratory, and a pharmacy that provides essential healthcare services to the community. Additionally, Ruben Centre's community development programs focus on issues such as water and sanitation, women's empowerment, and entrepreneurship.


At Indy Escapes, we are proud to support the Ruben Centre in their efforts to improve the lives of those living in the Mukuru slums. The Whale Shark Research Project in the Maldives is an initiative that focuses on the conservation of these majestic creatures. The Street Child Sierra Leone Marathon is an annual event that aims to raise awareness and funds for vulnerable children in Sierra Leone. It is a unique opportunity for runners from around the world to challenge themselves while making a difference in the lives of those in need. The marathon course takes runners through the beautiful scenery of Sierra Leone, passing through local villages and past historical landmarks. Participants can choose to run the full marathon, half marathon, or 5K race, and are encouraged to fundraise for Street Child's programs that support education, child protection, and livelihoods in the country. The Edmund Rice Centre Nairobi is a non-profit organisation that is committed to improving the lives of disadvantaged and marginalised communities of the Kibera slum in Nairobi, Kenya. The organisation's mission is to provide education, healthcare, and other basic necessities to children with disabilities, with a focus on empowering the youth in Nairobi, which helps them to break the cycle of poverty and achieve a better future.


The staff at the centre work closely with families to provide ongoing support and ensure that the needs of each child are met. By working to empower children with disabilities and their families, the centre is helping to create a more inclusive and equitable society in Nairobi.



AMES Australia is a not-for-profit organization that provides settlement and employment services to newly arrived refugees and migrants in Australia. Their mission is to ensure that new arrivals are able to fully participate in Australian society and achieve their individual goals. They offer a range of services including language and literacy training, vocational training, job placement assistance, and community support. Through their programs and services, AMES Australia helps to build stronger, more inclusive communities and contributes to the cultural and economic development of the country.



During the 90s, hundreds of adults and children lost their hands and arms to the brutality of the Civil War. E-nable Sierra Leone is a non-profit organization that aims to provide affordable prosthetic limbs to individuals in need. The organization uses 3D printing technology to create customized prosthetic hands and arms, which are then fitted and distributed to those who require them. E-nable Sierra Leone has helped numerous people who have lost limbs due to injury, disease, or other factors, allowing them to regain independence and mobility. The organization also provides training to local healthcare professionals and technicians to improve access to prosthetic services and support the local community.


Your donations will help us to find the best prosthetic materials and models most suitable for use in tropical Africa. Part of the funding will also be used to train amputees and give them the life skills to support themselves.



BAWA is a non-profit organisation that is dedicated to animal welfare and reducing animal suffering on the island of Bali, Indonesia. The organization provides a range of animal welfare services, including rescuing and rehabilitating injured and abused animals, providing veterinary care, offering education and training programs to local communities, and advocating for animal rights.


BAWA also runs a shelter where animals in need can receive care and attention until they are able to be rehomed. The organization relies on donations and volunteers to continue their important work, and is committed to making a positive impact on the lives of animals in Bali.
