Maldives Packing List

Luggage & Essentials

  • Soft-shell suitcase, travel bag, or hybrid backpack with wheels – brands like Osprey, Kathmandu, North Face, or American Apparel are great options. Ensure it is lightweight (preferably under 50 litres or 15kg) as there is limited storage space on boats.

  • Day pack for daily excursions.

  • Refillable water bottle to reduce plastic waste.

  • Waterproof dry bag to protect valuables from splashes.

  • Travel towel (quick-dry and compact).

  • Packing cubes for organisation.

  • Foldable duffle bag for souvenirs or extra gear.

  • Laundry bag and detergent.

  • Travel locks for securing your bags.

  • Sunglasses with UV protection.

  • Earplugs and an eye mask for peaceful sleep.

Clothing

  • Lightweight, breathable clothing (cotton or linen preferred).

  • 3-4 short-sleeve t-shirts or tank tops.

  • 2-3 pairs of shorts.

  • 1-2 casual evening outfits for dinners.

  • 1-2 pairs of lightweight long trousers or maxi skirts (for conservative local islands).

  • 1 pair of leggings for travel days or cooler evenings.

  • Swimwear (bring at least 3-5 sets as you’ll be in the water everyday).

  • Rash guard for sun protection while snorkelling.

  • Flip-flops or sandals.

  • A hat (wide-brimmed or cap) to protect from the sun.

  • Light cover-up or sarong (great for the beach and covering shoulders on local islands).

  • Pyjamas.

    • Hairbrush or comb

    • Tweezers and nail clippers

  • Feminine hygiene products (tampons & pads are available on the islands we stay on; a menstrual cup is a great alternative or back up)

  • Spare toilet paper (some public toilets may not provide it)
