ITINERARY

Day 1: KANDY

Our Sri Lankan adventure begins with breakfast in Colombo before we set off at 1pm for the beautiful city of Kandy. Upon arrival, we’ll gather for our first lunch together, giving everyone a chance to connect and share their excitement for the journey ahead. After lunch, we’ll explore the scenic Kandy lake, taking in the tranquil surroundings before heading to one of Sri Lanka’s most iconic landmarks, the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, steeped in history and spirituality.

As the evening sets in, we’ll enjoy a relaxed dinner and drinks, keeping things low-key in preparation for tomorrow’s big day. However, for those who are feeling adventurous and want to experience more of Kandy’s nightlife, feel free to ask our Indy team for suggestions on where to go and meet your fellow travellers. Tomorrow promises a spectacular journey as we head to Ella on what is widely regarded as the most beautiful train ride in the world!

Day 2: SCENIC TRAIN RIDE

Today, we rise early to savour a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast before heading to the train station for a truly unforgettable journey to Ella. With comfortable reserved seats, you’ll still find it hard to resist popping out to the train door for that once-in-a-lifetime photo as we pass through breathtaking landscapes. The journey takes between 6-8 hours, but the views are worth every minute!

Once we arrive in Ella, you’ll have time to settle into your accommodation before we head out to explore the town. Known for its laid-back atmosphere, Ella is brimming with funky restaurants and bars where you can unwind, enjoy great food, and experience the local nightlife. Feel free to let your hair down—it’s the perfect place for it!

Day 3: EXPLORE ELLA

Today is yours to explore Ella at your own pace. Whether you’re interested in sightseeing, hiking, or just soaking up the vibe, we’ve left the day free for you to enjoy the experiences that speak to you. Ella has so many hidden gems to discover, from scenic viewpoints to peaceful walks through tea plantations, and our team will help coordinate your plans if needed.

For those looking for a bit more structure, our Indy team will lead a free guided hike through the tea plantations to Little Adam’s Peak, continuing on to the iconic Nine Arch Bridge. This stunning walk offers great photo opportunities and a chance to experience Ella’s natural beauty up close.

Day 4: UDAWALAWE NATIONAL PARK

After a relaxed morning in Ella, we’ll head to one of the tour’s most exciting destinations: Udawalawe National Park. Famous for its rich biodiversity, the park is home to a variety of wildlife including elephants, crocodiles, golden jackals, and the elusive sloth bear. We’ll board private safari jeeps and venture into the heart of the park, aiming to spot these incredible creatures as they roam in their natural habitat.

The best time for wildlife spotting is early in the morning or lateafternoon when the animals are most active. As temperatures rise during the day, many animals take cover for a midday siesta. With a bit of luck, we’ll catch some amazing sightings before retreating to our accommodation for the night.

Day 5: MIRISSA

Today, you can choose to relax and soak up the sun in Mirissa or dive into one of the many exciting activities on offer. Whether you opt for an early morning jungle hike to Mirissa’s Secret Beach, whale watching, surf lessons in Weligama Bay, or a sunset stroll to Coconut Hill, there’s something for everyone. You can pack your day full of adventures or simply take it slow—either way, the choice is yours.

In the evening, we’ll reunite for a delightful dinner on the beach, followed by cocktails as the sun sets. Later, we’ll head into town to try the delicious Sri Lankan coconut pancake dessert, Pain Pol, capping off another perfect day in paradise.

Day 6: WELIGAMA

After a restful sleep-in, you can start the day with an optional yoga session on the beach to stretch out and relax. Later, we’ll head along the coast to to Weligama for a surf session or in Midigama to snap photos with Sri Lanka’s famous stilt fishermen. It’s a leisurely day designed for you to unwind and recharge after all the adventures so far.

Unawatuna is only a short trip away, giving us plenty of time to explore the local area at our own pace. Whether you choose to surf, swim, or simply lounge by the beach, today is all about taking it easy and enjoying Sri Lanka’s stunning coastline. In the evening we will head back to Mirissa for a local dinner and enjoy the festivities on the beach.

Day 7: UNWANTUNA

We will start exploring the area with an optional hike to Jungle Beach, guided by our Indy team, before returning to town for a Sri Lankan cooking class for lunch. This immersive experience will take us through the bustling markets of Galle with a local guide, before we head back to prepare a feast together. It’s the perfect opportunity to learn more about Sri Lankan cuisine and bond with your fellow travellers.

After several days packed with bucket-list activities, today is about slowing down and enjoying your final full day in Sri Lanka. Unawatuna is known for its vibrant beach parties, and we’ll cap off our tour with one last evening celebration on the sand—a perfect way to say goodbye to this beautiful country.
